چکیده

Abtract We introduce an approach that combines the concepts of emulsion-templating and dewetting for fabricating polymersomes with a large number of compartments. The resultant polymersome gel behaves as a gel-like solid, but is a true vesicle suspended in an aqueous environment. Due to the thin membranes that separate the compartments, the polymersome gels have a high volume fraction of internal phase for encapsulation of hydrophilic actives; they also provide large surface area of diblock copolymer membrane for encapsulation of lipophilic actives. Multiple actives can also be encapsulated in the gel without crosscontamination. Our technique represents a simple and versatile bulk approach for fabricating polymersome gels; it does not require the use of any specialized equipment or subsequent polymerization steps to solidify the gel. The resultant polymersome gel is promising as an encapsulating structure as well as scaffold for tissue engineering.

Multicompartment polymersomes from double emulsions.

Polymersomes are vesicles which consist of compartments surrounded by membrane walls that are composed of lamellae of block copolymers. They are important for numerous applications in encapsulation and delivery of active ingredients such as food additives, drugs, fragrances, and enzymes. Polymersomes are typically prepared by precipitating block copolymers from their solvents through addition o...

Synthesis and characterization of mPEG-PCL copolymers as a polymersomes for delivery of enalapril as a model hydrophilic drug

Purpose: Enalapril maleate (EPM), was used for hypertension and congestive heart failure. In this way, an innovative delivery system with mPEG–PCL was synthesized and the release profile of the EPM from the drug-loaded polymersomes was evaluated. Methods: Di-block methoxy)-poly (ethylene glycol) - Poly (caprolactone) (mPEG-PCL) copolymers were synthesized and used to prepare of polymersom...

Log-Normal and Mono-Sized Particles’ Packing into a Bounded Region

Many systems can be modeled with hard and various size spheres, therefore packing and geometrical structures of such sets are of great importance. In this paper, rigid spherical particles distributed in different sizes are randomly packed in confined spaces, using a parallel algorithm. Mersenne Twister algorithm was used to generate pseudorandom numbers for initial coordination of particles. Di...

Thermomechanical Buckling of Simply Supported Shallow FGM Spherical Shells with Temperature dependent Material

The thermomechanical buckling of simply supported thin shallow spherical shells made of functionally graded material is presented in this paper. A metal-ceramic functionally graded shell with a power law distribution for volume fraction is considered, where its properties vary gradually through the shell thickness direction from pure metal on the inner surface to pure ceramic on the outer surfa...

Buckling Analysis of Functionally Graded Shallow Spherical Shells Under External Hydrostatic Pressure

The aim of this paper is to determine the critical buckling load for simply supported thin shallow spherical shells made of functionally graded material (FGM) subjected to uniform external pressure. A metal-ceramic functionally graded (FG) shell with a power law distribution for volume fraction is considered, where its properties vary gradually through the shell thickness direction from pure me...
